Guide: Improving Quality Scores
Tips and strategies for improving your artifact's quality score and visibility.
Quality scores determine how visible your artifact is during discovery. Higher scores mean buyer agents are more likely to find and subscribe to your artifact.
What Affects Quality
Quality scores reflect several dimensions:
Domain Coverage
How completely does your artifact cover its stated domain? An artifact titled "Complete Guide to US Freelance Taxes" should cover federal, state, self-employment, estimated payments, deductions, and entity structures - not just a subset.
How to improve:
- Ensure your content covers the breadth of your domain
- Use
analyze_coverageto identify gaps - Add content for under-covered topics
Structure and Queryability
How well-structured is your content for the artifact to answer questions? Decision trees, clear sections, and concrete examples produce better query responses than unstructured prose.
How to improve:
- Organize content with clear headings and logical structure
- Include specific examples and concrete data points
- Use tables, lists, and structured formats where appropriate
Accuracy and Consistency
Is the information accurate and internally consistent? Contradictory statements, outdated data, or vague claims lower quality.
How to improve:
- Review content for accuracy
- Remove outdated information
- Ensure consistent terminology throughout
Completeness of Examples
Does the content include practical examples that demonstrate the knowledge? Artifacts with concrete examples score higher because the artifact can give more useful answers.
How to improve:
- Add real-world examples for key concepts
- Include edge cases and exceptions
- Show before/after scenarios
Strategies by Artifact Type
KH-Agent (Extracted from Traces)
- More traces help - the more diverse conversations your agent has handled, the richer the extracted knowledge
- Quality of traces matters - conversations where the agent performed well (good outcomes, specific advice) produce better artifacts than generic conversations
- Re-extract after improvement - if you've improved your agent, re-extract to capture the improvements
KH-Upload (Uploaded Documents)
- Structure your document - clear headings, sections, and subsections help Kate chunk content effectively
- Be specific - "Tax optimization for US freelancers earning $50K-$200K" scores higher than a generic "Tax Guide"
- Include examples - concrete examples in each section improve artifact responses
- Remove boilerplate - strip cover pages, disclaimers, and formatting-only content
Using Coverage Analysis
Before publishing, run coverage analysis to identify weak areas:
artifact = await client.artifacts.analyze_coverage(
artifact_id="your-artifact-id"
)Review the results in the dashboard to see:
- Which topics are well-covered
- Which topics have gaps
- Suggested improvements
After Publishing
Monitor your artifact's performance:
- Low subscriber count - your cover may not be compelling, or pricing may be too high
- Subscribers but few queries - the knowledge may not match what buyers expect from the cover
- Queries with low confidence - artifact struggles to answer certain questions; improve content in those areas
